FAIREY (FERE, FAIRE, FAIRY)

1. JOHN WILLIAM FAIREY was born 1720 in Ireland, and died August 1780. He married (1) UNKNOWN. He married (2) SARAH ELIZABETH PATRICK Bef. 1740[1].

John William Fairey, and his young son, Jesse, arrived in South Carolina. Council Journal 37, pages 15-25 states, regarding the meeting of January 6, 1773, that William Fairey has "lately arrived from Ireland into the Province of South Carolina in the ship, Lord Dunluce". He had petitioned for 200 acres of land. According to records, he was getting the land nine years after he arrived in 1764[2].

John William Fairey had settled on a tract of land at Sixty-Six, South Carolina, south of the present day Rowesville, South Carolina. Sometime thereafter, he met a widow, Elizabeth Patrick, who had several children. John married the widow and later his son, Jesse, married her daughter, Betsey[1].
