Attention Oktoberfest 2008 Registrants!

We have discovered that South Carolina State's homecoming, normally held in November, has been scheduled this year for the weekend of Oktoberfest. As a result, hotel rooms are not available in Orangeburg. However, there are many hotels in Columbia, only a 39 mile, 40 minute, drive away.

If enough people express interest, OGSGS will attempt to hire a professional van for transportation between this motel cluster and the meeting site. If you are interested in having us look into this possibility, email Lynn Teague, teague_l@bellsouth.net.

The closest large cluster of hotels is around the intersection of I-77 and Garner's Ferry Road in Columbia. A www.yellowpages.com search for motels in the 29209 zip code (which is around that intersection) shows the following listings:
