Migration of Michael ZEIGLER (JR) and Sarah BAGGOTT

1. Michael ZEIGLER (JR), born 19 Aug 1776 in Orangeburg, South Carolina; died Sep 1849 in Franklin Co., MS, son of Michael ZEIGLER and Martha PIQUOTT. He married on 25 Jan 1795 Sarah BAGGOTT, born 16 Nov 1779 in Orangeburg, South Carolina; died aft 1865 in Franklin Co., MS.

Notes for Michael ZEIGLER (JR): On 2 February 1801 Garret Zeigler and Michael Zeigler Jr., witnessed a deed given by David Vale to Michael Zeigler Sr. (REF: Barnwell Co SC Deed Bk C pg.63) On 26 Feberary 1805 Martha Cannon deeded to Michael Zeigler, Sr. land bounding on the East by land sold to Michael Zeigler, Jr. Moved to Adams Co. Miss. On 11 October 1810 Michael Zeigler Jr. and John Zeigler of Adams County, Mississippi Territory, gave power of attorney to receive from Conrad Zeigler and Jacob Ridgdill (administrators of the estate of Michael Zeigler, Sr.) of Barnwell District, SC inherterance from their desceased father's estate. Barnwell Co SC Deed Bk K. pp.57 and 58. ) Moved to Mississippi prior to 1810, was in the 1800 cenus of SC. On February 2, 1801 he Witnessed a deed in Bamberg Co., SC. On October 11, 1812 Michael Zeigler, Jr. and John Zeigler (brother) of Adams Co., of the Mississippi Territory, gave power of attorney to Jacob Redgett to sue his brother Conrad Zeigler and Jacob Ridgill, administrators of the estate of their father, Michael Zeigler, Sr. The children were born in the Orangeburgh District of South Carolina and did not migrate to MS until about 1808-1809. Thus some children were born in SC and others in MS. Sources for the children of Michael Zeigler, Jr. came from the following LDS film #'s. LDS film #'s 5029559, 1553937,1903608, 1395666, 8330701, 1760770 and 1903903.

Children of Michael ZEIGLER (JR) and Sarah BAGGOTT were as follows:

a. James ZEIGLER, born 30 Jan 1797 in Orangeburg, South Carolina; died 1 Oct 1857 in Jefferson Co., MS.

b. Richard ZEIGLER, born 23 Apr 1798 in Orangeburg, South Carolina. He married on 9 Mar 1820 in Adams Co., MS Elizabeth TUCKER.

c. Elizabeth ZEIGLER, born 10 Apr 1800 in Orangeburg, South Carolina; died abt 1870 in Rapides Parish, LA. She married (1) on 8 Nov 1827 in Adams Co., MS James DELANEY, born abt 1797; died abt 1848; (2) on 17 Dec 1848 in MS ? Baranabus HIGGINS. An Elizabeth Zeigler marred a James Delaney in Adams Co., MS on November 8, 1827. Elizabeths family lived in Adams Co. for awhile and some of her siblings were married here. Also, an Elizabeth Zeigler married a Jacob Hollinger in Franklin Co., MS on March 6, 1834.

d. David ZEIGLER, born 1 Feb 1802 in Orangeburg, South Carolina.

e. Zachariah ZEIGLER, born 28 Dec 1803 in Orangeburg, South Carolina; died abt 1848 in Amite Co., MS. He married (1) on 11 Oct 1836 in Amite Co., MS Elizabeth HANNA; (2) abt 1845 Lucinda SMILEY.

f. Rebecca ZEIGLER, born 8 Jan 1806 in Orangeburg, South Carolina. She married [---] SMITH.

g. Mary ZEIGLER, born 17 Nov 1807 in Orangeburg, South Carolina. She married on 16 Nov 1824 in Franklin Co., MS Peyton WOTHEY.

h. Sarah ZEIGLER, born 17 Dec 1809 in Probably Orangeburgh, South Carolina; died abt 1840.

i. Isiah Dee ZEIGLER, born 15 Jan 1811 in Adams Co., MS; died 8 Aug 1894 in LaSalle Parish, LA. He married (1) on 15 Dec 1842 in Franklin Co., MS Mary Elizabeth LATTIMORE) Zeigler, born 16 Mar 1827 in MS; died 27 Mar 1862 in Probably LaSalle Parish, LA; (2) on 19 Jan 1868 Mary Ann Elder CUPPLES, born BET 1823 AND 1829; died abt 1900; (3) abt 1875 A Choctaw Indian. Isaiah D. Zeigler was born in 1811, we know his father Michael Zeagler, Jr. was in Adams Co., MS territory in October 1812. Thus Isaiah could have been born in Orangeburgh, SC before he left or in MS after he arrived or even on the way to MS.

j. Catherine Delinda ZEIGLER, born 30 Dec 1814 in Franklin Co., MS. She married (1) on 6 Jan 1834 in Franklin Co., MS Philip ZEIGLER, born abt 1808; died bef 1849 in Caldwell Parish, Louisiana; (2) abt 1848 Jesse DANIELS. A Catharine Zeagler married Joseph Zeagler in Franklin Co., MS on January 6, 1834.

k. Eunice Catherine ZEIGLER, born 21 Dec 1816 in Adams, MS; died in Franklin Co., MS. She married on 11 Oct 1836 in Franklin Co., MS Jeremiah BEACH, born abt 1811 in Fairfax Co., VA; died in Franklin Co., MS.

l. Sinai A. ZEIGLER, born 10 Sep 1818 in Franklin Co., MS. She married (1) on 10 Dec 1837 in Franklin Co., MS George M. SMITH; (2) aft 1840 in Jefferson Co., MS John BUSSER.
