1. Samuel FUNCHESS, born abt 1782 in Branchville, Orangeburg Co., South Carolina; died 10 Jun 1840 in Raymond, Hinds Co., Mississippi, son of Sebastian FUNCHESS and Susannah WEBER. He married abt 1801 in South Carolina Elizabeth FORD, born 13 Mar 1784 in South Carolina; died 9 Oct 1849 in Utica, Hinds Co., Mississippi. This MAY be the Samuel Funchess that migrated to Mississippi (not proven).

Children of Samuel FUNCHESS and Elizabeth FORD were as follows:

a. Nancy FUNCHESS, born abt 1802 in Orangeburgh, South Carolina; died abt 1854 in Bellevue, Bossier Parish, Louisiana. She married abt 1822 in Covington Co., Mississippi Eli SPURLIN.

b. Edmund FUNCHESS, born 17 Apr 1805 in Orangeburgh, South Carolina; died 4 Nov 1838 in Utica, Hinds Co., Mississippi. He married Sarah Anne FORD.

c. Harriet FUNCHESS, born abt 1808 in Orangeburgh, South Carolina; died abt 1840. She married [---] HARVEY.

d. Julia Glenn FUNCHESS, born 25 Apr 1810 in Orangeburgh, South Carolina; died 3 Nov 1890 in Kosciusko, Attala Co., Mississippi. She married Franklin Henry Dana JENNINGS.

e. Dorcas FUNCHESS, born abt 1812 in Orangeburgh, South Carolina; died bef 1840. She married on 15 Feb 1831 in Raymond, Hinds Co., Mississippi Green E. BEAUCHAMP.

f. Mary FUNCHESS, born abt 1814 in Orangeburgh, South Carolina; died abt 1837 in Raymond, Hinds Co., Mississippi. She married on 10 Nov 1834 in Raymond, Hinds Co., Mississippi Wood Moody STACKHOUSE.

g. Susan Jane FUNCHESS, born 4 Oct 1816 in Orangeburgh, South Carolina; died 8 Sep 1886 in Bonham, Fannin Co., Texas. She married on 11 Jul 1833 in Raymond, Hinds Co., Mississippi Henry Pinckney POPE.

h. Lavisa Catherine FUNCHESS, born abt 1818 in Orangeburgh, South Carolina. She married on 7 Jan 1840 in Hinds County, Mississippi Sidney S. SCOTT.

i. Rebecca C. FUNCHESS, born abt 1821 in Mississippi; died 24 Aug 1842 in Raymond, Hinds Co., Mississippi. She married on 16 Jun 1842 in Raymond, Hinds Co., Mississippi James J. MCNULTY.

j. Permelia W. FUNCHESS, born 12 Apr 1824 in Mississippi; died 2 Oct 1884 in Bolton, Hinds Co., Mississippi. She married on 23 Nov 1841 in Raymond, Hinds Co., Mississippi Daniel BLACK.
