Migration of John Lewis DANTZLER and Elizabeth HORGER1. John Lewis DANTZLER, born 15 Aug 1788 in Orangeburgh, South Carolina; died 1852 in Perry County, Mississippi, son of Hans Jacob DANTZLER and Elizabeth Barbara CARN. He married Elizabeth HORGER, born 1792 in Orangeburg District, South Carolina; died 1869 in Perry County, Mississippi, daughter of John HORGER and Rachel SHULER. Notes for John Lewis DANTZLER: Migrated to Wayne County, Mississippi abt 1812. Settled on east side of the Leaf River opposite land bought by William and Mary (Gavin) Clayton. The DANTZLER brothers were not wealthy at the time but bought and sold timber land until they owned the southern half of the estate. Had to build their own railroad to ship their lumber to the coast for export. Built giant lumber processing mills all over. Because of their output, the MS Gulf Coast became the largest lumber shipping port in the world in the 1800s. Children of John Lewis DANTZLER and Elizabeth HORGER were as follows: a. Avaline DANTZLER, born 25 Mar 1813 in Perry County, Mississippi; died 5 Apr 1889 in Perry County, Mississippi. She married on 23 Mar 1830 in Perry County, Mississippi Charles Gavin CLAYTON, born 23 Dec 1808 in Orangeburg District, South Carolina; died 1 Sep 1857 in Lauderdale County, Mississippi, son of William Beverly CLAYTON and Mary GAVIN. b.
