1. John Samuel COLLIER, born 18 Mar 1816 in Colleton County, South Carolina, died 21 Apr 1871 in Belton, Bell County, Texas, son of Samuel Rowland COLLIER and Delilah JOYNER. He married (1) on 13 Sep 1838 in South Carolina Eliza Alphalet DUKES, born 16 Jul 1819 in Orangeburg District, South Carolina; died 24 Jan 1861 in Brandon, Rankin County, Mississippi, daughter of Thomas Edmund DUKES (JR) and Ann AYLAR; (2) on 17 Oct 1868 in Brandon, Rankin County, Mississippi Lucinda MCCULLOUGH, born abt. 1831 in Georgia, died aft. 1880 in Mississippi.

Notes for John Samuel COLLIER: John Samuel, wife Eliza and 5 children moved from OB SC to Fl in the winter on 1848/49. One child was born there in 1852. He then moved his family to Leake County MS in the winter of 1852/53 where 2 more children were born. In the winter of 1859/60 he moved his family to Rankin County, MS. Eliza died there in 1861. He married Lucienda McCullough in 1868 in Rankin County MS and with her fathered another child. In the winter of 1869/70 he moved to Belton, Bell, TX leaving Lucienda and his child with her in MS. He died in Belton, Bell, TX in 1871 and was buried there.

a. Samuel Rowland COLLIER, born 7 Oct 1839 in Orangeburgh District, South Carolina, died 7 Jun 1906 in Converse, Sabine County, Louisiana. He married (1) 11 Aug 1870 Mary Haynes GADDIS in Lena, Leake County, Mississippi; (2) Mary Catherine LONG.

b. Anna Jane COLLIER, born 23 Nov 1841 in Orangeburgh District, South Carolina; died 16 Dec 1900 in Flora, Madison County, Mississippi. She married in Rankin County, Mississippi Green Berry HOPSON, born 16 Nov 1843.

c. Julia Anne COLLIER, born 5 Dec 1843 in Orangeburgh District, South Carolina; died 26 Apr 1874 in Brandon, Rankin County, Mississippi. She married on 15 Aug 1867 in Brandon, Rankin County, Mississippi James W. MCMASTER (Judge).

d. John Elvin Thomas COLLIER, born 14 Mar 1846 in Orangeburgh District, South Carolina; died 8 Oct 1863 in Brandon, Rankin County, Mississippi.

e. Martha Anne Delilah COLLIER, born 17 Sep 1848 in Orangeburgh District, South Carolina; died 24 Apr 1919 in Jackson, Hinds County, Mississippi. She married on 28 Oct 1868 in Rankin County, Mississippi George W. FRASER.

f. Robert Williams COLLIER, born 26 Jun 1852 in Leon County, Florida, died 23 Apr 1929 in Converse, Sabine County, Louisiana. He married on 11 Jan 1882 Arnetta PAYNE, born 4 Jun 1864.

g. Childebert Anverania COLLIER, born 28 Sep 1855 in Rankin County, Mississippi; died 22 Nov 1894 in Everett, Simpson County, Mississippi. She married on 25 Oct 1879 William Marion PRINE, born 7 Sep 1858.

h. Abraham Spencer Dukes COLLIER, born 12 Mar 1858 in Rankin County, Mississippi.

Children of John Samuel COLLIER and Lucinda MCCULLOUGH were as follows:

i. Mary Ellen COLLIER, born 27 Jun 1869 in Brandon, Rankin County, Mississippi. She married Richard J. MOORE on 20 Dec 1888 in Scott County, Mississippi.
