Migration of Gasper SISTRUNK and Marian Leitner [---]1. Gasper SISTRUNK, born abt 1749; died 1810, son of Hans Heinrich SISTRUNK and Ursula YGLY. He married Marian Leitner [---]. Notes for Gasper SISTRUNK: R.S. #197. Gasper Sistrunk (I) was owner of extensive land grants. His first is recorded March 18, 1785 for 640 acres in Orangeburg District, and included the home site where his son Casper Sistrunk was born, and lived during his entire life, and on which the children of Casper lived after him. Dec. 26, 1802, Gasper Sistrunk received 641 acres adjoining the above grant, and on Dec. 39, 1805, either Gasper the first, or his son, got 82 more acres adjoining the last grant. Oct. 11, 1810, Gasper Sistrunk acquired another 400 acres on Little Beaver Creek and the Congaree. He evidently left his land in the Orangeburg area and went to live on his estate in Richland County, for he is listed as living in that county in the 1810 and 1820 Census report. The next transaction was on June 5, 1818. He purchased less than an acre near Columbia. The plat shows it adjoined his other property. His will was made and probated in Richland County, and he was presumably living with his daughters and two grandchildren. Reference: "OLIVER - SISTRUNK FAMILIES, Orangeburg Area South Carolina" by Georgie I. Adams Lefvendahl (Mrs. P. A.) Jasper's will was recorded in Richland county will book H page 136. It was written March 29, 1825 and recorded May 13, 1825. Notes for Marian Leitner [---]: Marian Seastrunk is buried beneath Washington Street Methodist Church, Columbia, SC, but her tombstone recording is listed in the inventory that was done by the church before renovation. It states that she was the wife of J. Seastrunk. Her identity as a Lightner was found in the will of her father, George Lightner, that was recorded in Richland County, SC and dated October 28, 1812. Children of Gasper SISTRUNK and Marian Leitner [---] were as follows: a. John SISTRUNK, born 1777; died 1840 in Lincoln County, Georgia. b. David SISTRUNK, born 1780; died 1850. In Georgia some years. c. George SISTRUNK, born 1783; died 1839. d. Casper SISTRUNK, born 4 Feb 1784; died 5 Feb 1857. He married (1) on 17 Dec 1811 Mary OLIVER, born 20 Oct 1784; died 31 May 1844, daughter of Thomas OLIVER and Elizabeth SISTRUNK; (2) abt 1849 Anne LEYSATH, born 14 Dec 1809; died 28 Jun 1888. Notes for Casper SISTRUNK: Casper Sistrunk is supposed to have changed his name from Gasper about the time of his marriage, or a little earlier. He lived in the house his father originally built on his property located on the famous old Bull Swamp Road between Orangeburg and North, S.C. One of his grandsons, James Newton Sistrunk and his wife, Mary Ann K.Muller, lived in this house for some years after their marriage in 1881. It is possible that Casper Sistrunk, before he changed his name from Gasper, could have procured the 82 acre tract of land on Dec. 30, 1805, as he was 21 years of age at that time, and the tract adjoined his father's property not far from the homestead. However, it is certain that he did get 25-1/2 acres on Little Beaver Creek in Orangeburg District on June 24, 1824, and this adjoined land he already owned and which his father had owned before him. Casper Sistrunk died before the Civil War. He had at least 5 slaves born on his place, as recorded in his Family Bible, but it is not known how many he owned. The names of three adult females are found in the records of Limestone Methodist Church in 1842, which was called Kedron Meeting House at that time.
